What can I do if the headphones cannot be switched on/do not react to any button press?

Answer:

Make sure that the headphones are charged.

If this is the case, perform a hardware reset of the headphones.

How can I do a hardware reset of the headphones?

Answer:

If the function of the headphones is disrupted, perform a manual hardware reset:

Press and hold the multifunction button for approx. 20 seconds.

You will then hear a small “tick” sound.

This will restart your headphones.

How can I control the sidetone during calls?

Answer:

For more comfortable calls, the MOMENTUM 4 Wireless has an integrated sidetone function. The term “sidetone” refers to the sound of your own voice that is sent to the speakers. The sidetone function enables a more natural listening experience of your own voice when speaking during a call (own voice reception).

You can set the sidetone level in the device settings of the Smart Control app. We recommend using a higher sidetone level in quiet environments and a lower setting for use in a noisy environment.

What can I do when the headphones switch off automatically when not in use?

Answer:

The MOMENTUM 4 Wireless has integrated energy-saving features. When the headphones are removed from the head - and on-head detection is activated via the Smart Control app - they will already start to save power by deactivating some functions, e. g. ANC.

If the headphones are taken off for 15 minutes, they switch off almost completely. They switch on again automatically when you simply touch them. The switch-off timer can be set in the Smart Control app.

Can I manually turn off the headphones?

Answer:

You can switch the headphones off manually by pressing the multifunction button for approx. 3 seconds. They can be switched on again in the same way.

The headphones also switch off when they are placed into their carrying case.

How can I reset the headphones to the factory default settings?

Answer:

If the function of the headphones is faulty and resetting the hardware manually does not improve the situation, you can reset the headphones to the factory default settings. This will delete all pairing settings, among other things.

Press the multifunction button for 15 seconds.

You will hear a tone prompt and the red and white LEDs will flash briefly. If you then release the button, the headphones will be reset to the factory settings.

You can also initialize the factory reset via the Smart Control app.

What should I check if I can't hear anything when using the headphones?

Answer:

Make sure that the headphones are charged and connected to your Bluetooth device. Increase the volume on your Bluetooth device and on the headphones by pressing the volume button on the headphones until you hear the voice prompt “Volume max”.

How can I adjust the headphones to a comfortable volume or make them louder?

Answer:

Some Android smartphones have a separate volume control for Bluetooth headsets and for the Android smartphone. Make sure that both volume controls are set to maximum. To increase the volume of the headphones, swipe your finger upwards on the right earcup until you hear a tone prompt. Now increase the volume of the smartphone to maximum.

On smartphones with “absolute volume control” such as the Apple iPhone, there is only one volume control, so you can either use the volume control of the smartphone or of the headphones.

What should I do if I have problems connecting my headphones to the Smart Control app?

Answer:

Some smartphone models may experience problems when connecting the Smart Control app to the headphones. Future app and firmware updates will resolve possible limitations of this kind.

Try to connect the headphones to your smartphone without the Smart Control app. Open the Bluetooth menu of your smartphone and search for the headphones. Pair your smartphone with the headphones. Only start the Smart Control app when the headphones are connected to your smartphone.

You can try to switch the Bluetooth function of your smartphone off and on again to reset the Bluetooth module, or you can restart your smartphone.

You can also go to the smartphone’s security and location settings and switch “Use location” off and on again, even if the location service is already activated. This is because some Android models require the location service to be enabled when using a Bluetooth Low Energy connection.

Sennheiser does not use or store location information of the user for other reasons.

You may perform a factory reset of the MOMENTUM 4 Wireless and restart the Bluetooth pairing.

What should I do if no connection can be established between the headphones and the Smart Control app when using smartphones with Android 10 operating system?

Answer:

Try to connect the headphones to your smartphone without the Smart Control app. Open the Bluetooth menu on your smartphone and search for the headphones. Pair your smartphone with the headphones. Only start the Smart Control app when the headphones are connected to your smartphone.

What should I do if using Skype with the MOMENTUM 4 Wireless does not work on Windows 10?

Answer:

Skype does not work properly when the MOMENTUM 4 Wireless is connected directly to a Windows 10 PC via Bluetooth. Call control via the headphones will not work. You can solve this problem by using a USB Bluetooth dongle (e. g. Sennheiser BTD 600).
